Successful humour often reflects the reality that we live in and are familiar with. At first glance, the environment in King Tutt might seem as far away from our reality that one can get, but it is filled with current subjects. One recurring theme is the huge abacus that symbolises our computers.
The strip and the cartoonist Geoff Watson come from South Africa, a country not often associated with comics. Although in later years, we have seen a flourishing comics culture and strips with potential for international success.
