The confused but well-meaning Captain Boner constantly sails an imaginary ocean with a neurotic menagerie for a crew. There is no land, or hope in sight.
Captain Boner, the commander of the Ark, is a friendly but clumsy leader.
He tries really hard but the Ark has never been anywhere close to land. He is kind and good-hearted, despite the fact that his journey will never end. He is the emotional hub that keeps his crew together. This fact has awarded him the affection of the animals, if not their respect.
Boner’s wife, Miss Boner, keeps him on a short leash. Our daring seafarer once saved her from a drifting raft and ever since, their love has flourished (with some help from regular appointments with their marriage councillor, the jackal).
Behind the signature Addison hides Mort Walker, better known as the creator of Beetle Bailey. With Boner’s Ark, Mort seizes the opportunity to illustrate both innocent comedy and cruel satire.
